2025 October Halloween Surprises with Positive Market Uptrend

Spooky or not, historically, the fall is considered the slow period for stock market performance.  Oftentimes, if September performs well, then October becomes the month when the financial markets might slow down.  However, 2025 has been anything but normal.  September had strong performances for all three major markets and October is building on that momentum.  September saw the major market indexes climb from 1.87% for the Dow Jones to 5.61% for the NASDAQ.  These are very strong performance numbers for any year.

In light of the strong September performance, one might expect for the markets to take a breather, however that has not been the case.  October initially showed some signs of performance concerns, but that quickly turned around to have the markets continue to move higher.  Earlier concerns had ranged from the government shutdown that has lasted for the whole month of October, and trade tensions with China and some other U.S. trade partners that have persisted.  Despite this, the markets have shrugged off these potential concerns and have powered higher into the close of October.

The Halloween positive market surprise is intact and has produced great results (please see Table 1).

Outlook for Remainder of 2025

With clarity on cuts to short-term interest rates and improvements in U.S. trade negotiations, the markets should continue to power higher through the end of the year.  Of course, Paycheck to Wealth cannot predict how markets will perform in the future, but historically, the current environment is favorable for positive market returns.  Paycheck to Wealth will continue to follow ongoing developments and share information as changes develop.
